Support Cafes

You are warmly invited to drop in for a sociable chat in a friendly atmosphere, to meet others in a similar situation, receive advice and support, share your experiences and enjoy a range of refreshments from Fountain Cafe.

If you are a part of a service or organisation and would like to hold a support cafe at the practice, please contact katy.gillingham@nhs.net.

Autism Cafe: 2nd Wednesday of every month 11am - 1pm

A chance to meet volunteers from the South Wiltshire branch of The National Autism Society and receive advice and support.

Brain Injury Cafe: 3rd Wednesday of every month 10:30am - 11:30am

The Brain Injury Cafe offers an informal opportunity to get information, support and advice about brain injury. A brain injury can result from stroke, trauma (anything from concussion to a severe brain injury), lack of oxygen, infection and tumours among others.

Carer’s Café: 1st Tuesday of every month 10:30am - 11:30am 

For any carers who would like some support and chat to others in a similar situation. An advisor from Wiltshire carers support will facilitate the group and give advice.

Fibromyalgia Café: 4th Thursday of every month 2pm - 3:30pm.

For anyone living with fibromyalgia and their family and friends who would like to chat to others and receive peer support.

Friends after Bereavement: 3rd Wednesday of every month 1pm - 3pm

A chance for anyone who has lost a loved one to meet others in a safe, welcoming environment and share their own experiences if they wish.

Hearing Café: 1st Wednesday of every month at 10am - 11:30am

For anyone living with any type of hearing loss and their family and friends. Guide dogs are also welcome. Two volunteers from 
Hear to Help Salisbury (Action on Hearing Loss) will be on hand to offer information and answers any questions at each Café.

Knit and Natter: 2nd and 4th Friday of every month 1pm-3pm

For anyone who loves knitting or would love to learn how to knit can attend! Needles and wool can be provided. Annie's out of house wool shop will be facilitating the group.

 ME/CFS Café: 2nd Tuesday of every month 11am – 12:30pm 

For anyone living with Myalgia encephalomyelitis/Chronic fatigue syndrome and their family and friends who would like to offer and receive support.

Memory Café:  4th Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm - 3pm 

For anyone living with dementia and their carers. An advisor from the Alzheimer’s Society will be available at every café to offer advice and support as well as a facilitator leading a session.

The National Autistic Society at Salisbury Medical Practice: 2nd Tuesday of every month 11am - 1pm

Osteoporosis Café: Quarterly 2pm - 3:30pm

For anyone living with osteoporosis and their friends and family. Members of the National Osteoporosis Society will be available to answer any questions and offer support.

Parkinson’s Café: 2nd Monday of every month 2pm-3pm 

For anyone living with Parkinson’s Disease and their family and friends. Parkinson’s UK will be there to offer advice, support and information about services in the area.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Café: 3rd Tuesday of every month at 11am-12pm

For anyone living with rheumatoid arthritis and their family and friends. Members of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society will facilitate the session and be available to chat with.

Sight Café: 1st Monday of every month at 10:30am - 12pm

For anyone living with any type of visual impairment and their family and friends. Guide dogs welcome. An Eye Clinic Liaison Officer from Salisbury District Hospital facilitates the group

Tinnitus Café: Quarterly 1:30pm - 3:30pm.

*Next meeting is Wednesday 6th December*

For anyone living with tinnitus, family and friends are also welcome. The senior audiologist from Salisbury District Hospital will be attending to answer any questions and explain more about the service.

Wiltshire CIL Café: Quarterly. 11am – 12pm. 

 

Matt Stabb from WiltsCIL (Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living) will be available to offer advice and support on the #makesomeonewelcome campaign, personal assistants and signposting to colleagues that can assist with direct payments. This service is for anyone living with a disability.
