Really excellent service from start to finish . First time I have needed to use a GP urgent appointment in many years. To be honest I had little faith that I would get any help. However my first contact by phone was met with an empathetic receptionist who took the time to listen to the information about my problem . This was followed up really quite quickly by a call from a GP who felt she needed to see me. I attended the appointment and again everything done efficiently and with empathy . 3 hours from my first contact I had a plan of action and medication prescribed to help my condition. Thank you for a great experience. Highly recommend this excellent practice.

This week Dr Halliday went to a lot of effort to get me seen by the hospital that afternoon, and because of this I was able to get a scan and confirm I had colitis. This was incredibly helpful and meant I could get the right treatment. All the staff have been kind, patient and taken time to help me despite their demanding workloads. I really appreciate all that the staff do at the surgery.

I have been hugely impressed by my experiences with Salisbury Medical Practice since joining the Patient Register earlier this year when I moved to Salisbury. I had been sad to leave my previous GP Practice as that had been excellent but this one is even better! It is really easy to make appointments and any follow up requests are extremely responsive and I always feel I’m speaking to the best person to help me. On the 2 occasions I’ve needed to come in & see a GP I didn’t feel rushed and my concerns were thoroughly investigated & I really felt listened to. Thank you for making me feel well looked after - it almost feels like I am a private patient. I hope this helps to lift everyone as I appreciate what a stressful job it must be working for the NHS.

You have some great telephone assistants, very well informed, really good. Just occasionally there is someone who is too efficient, rushing too much. Like today. I needed more blood thinner meds and wanted to collect the prescription from Boots. I usually have them through an online service that takes longer, but had nearly run out. So, I got through to the prescription dept. Guy was super efficient, too efficient. Did I have computer, I could reorder on line. I was trying to say I wanted, just this once, to change the collection point. He talked at me, not giving me a chance to speak, before I knew it I had been dismissed. He didn't listen. He will know, if he gets older, people have problems hearing or thinking and need just a little more time.

After over doing it on a run I was experiencing joint pain in my knees and hips. I submitted an online request on Wednesday morning - within 9 minutes I had a response and was provided a link to book an appointment with a physio. There was a good choice of availability and I booked for Friday afternoon (two days after my initial request). I was seen in clinic, assessed and given exercises and advice to help me going forward. May I please compliment Deborah and Penny from the afternoon call handlers? I have been trying to locate and obtain copies of two documents referring to an Echocardiogram that I had at the Central Health Clinic in March 2022. Both were unavailable to me when using the NHS app, but thanks to their never ending patience and tenacity, they were identified, and permission given for them to be sent to me. Despite it taking nearly a week, and several phonecalls, they came up trumps, and were always helpful and cheerful when I spoke to them. They are a real credit to your practice, and I cannot thank them enough.

The care from the GPs is also absolutely brilliant. They always do their best to limit hospital visits and and work with me to come up with the best plan to keep me as well and safe as possible. Unfortunately, getting through to the triage list can be challenging. I have an incredibly complex, deteriorating condition that I know and manage incredibly well and am aware when to call yourselves or one or one of my specialist teams but unfortunately I’m not always ill at 8am or 1pm and these timings can be difficult to navigate for both my health and for my specialist who are advising I need to see you immediately.

Three recent experiences. 1 I requested a change to eye drops, as the existing meds were unavailable. A new prescription was sent to pharmacy but this was not communicated to me. A message to let me know would have helped. 2 I had pain in my left calf and suspected I might have a dvt , as I had recently been on two flights albeit not long haul. I was seen within a couple of hours and sent for a blood test. Very reassuring and excellent patient care. When I mentioned the request for eye drops, the doctor told me that a prescription had been sent to the pharmacy. 3 Results of recent blood test. I used the online system to request a call back because I was worried about the results I had viewed on the system, after speaking to the pharmacist. It showed Borderline and communicate patient for urea and electrolytes and liver profile even though the figures all fell within the ranges indicated. Within 24 hours the pharmacist called me to reassure me that all was well and said he did not know why the system had indicated borderline and communicate patient. I very much appreciated the call back. Excellent patient care. The online request system works well. 3

I had ongoing unexplained symptoms that I found really difficult to manage. I had to frequently ask for GP help over a 4 month period. The receptionists were always patient and helpful despite my multiple calls, and Dr Kowalski went above and beyond to support me. I can only imagine the immense pressure on GPs but despite this, Dr Kowalski spent time listening to me, helping me with medication and referrals, arranging check ups, and helping me keep hope that things would get better. Thank you!

GP surgeries nationally are getting alot of bad press, so i wanted to say thank you to the whole team! I have had need for a face to face appointment and was slotted in within a week. I have then had a number of prescription requests filled. The staff were lovely and the new booking portal has worked really well for me. Its easy to use and can be done on a phone, which i have found very convenient.

Everything was handled so efficiently. I needed to contact the practice because the medication prescribed wasn’t available. This was sorted out within a day. The admin staff in particular were very helpful, polite and knew exactly how to fix things.

A previous engagement meant that I had to change the date for my Covid vaccination. I requested the change by email (no telephone queue listening to music on hold), the date was changed within a couple of days and I received an automatic confirmation by text. When I arrived there were staff to show me where to go. I had to queue for no more than one or two minutes, and the whole procedure was completed within five minutes of arriving at the surgery. Extremely well organised - full marks.

Rang about non-healing bedsore after hospital stay. Spoke to GP later in morning and nurse appointment arranged for same afternoon. Very effective dressing and advice and two visits led to complete healing. Advice given on further care and nurse was happy to check unrelated leg wound and provide more appropriate dressings. Very knowledgeable about vulnerable skin care.

I phoned the surgery today and after a short wait was put through to a very caring receptionist who introduced herself by name. I had a GP call back within the hour and was referred directly to Specialust team in the hospital and had a CT sap can an hour later. What amazing care!! The NHS is wonderful. I needed emergency surgery and received so much help and support from all the staff at SMP. The GP got me admitted to hospital quickly, and once I was recovering from surgery at home, I received such good care from all the doctors and nurses. The service was efficient and helpful- I received really prompt support with care for my scar wound, checking my symptoms, making referrals and giving advice about recovery. I really felt looked after and reassured.

Dr Sharpe performed my carpal tunnel surgery. I was quite anxious beforehand. I had absolutely nothing to worry about. He and the nurse put me completely at ease, chatting to me through the entire procedure. I felt absolutely nothing, no pain or sensation at all for which I am very grateful. Then procedure was very quick. I now have a neat scar which is healing nicely.

I'm bad with having my bloods taken and she was so friendly and put me at ease. Times like these have everyone on the edge but she made a surreal situation so much easier. I have spoken to several advisors this week for assistance. Due to the situation we are in regarding Coronavirus, it hasn’t be possible to solve it. On Wednesday, Philip Hardy was more than helpful, courteous and professional and did as much as he could in the situation. By Friday, I still had no joy and I rang again and spoke to India. She was very professional, empathetic, courteous and apologised that the situation hadn’t been rectified. Even though this is happened, I fully appreciate EVERYONE at Salisbury Medical Practice and Tanday’s Pharmacy for their care, kindness, professionalism and continued support, especially with the very difficult situation we are all in. “A HUGE THANK YOU”

Nurse Sarah has healed my wound in a really expert way. I have had it for many years and she has healed it really quickly. I will miss seeing her each week as she has really lifted by spirits with her joyful nature. The chair in the nurse room! It looks like a torture chair and not easy to get on in your short like me.

She referred to my records, so she’d obviously done a quick bit of background reading which I appreciated. I felt reassured that I was significantly unwell and had made the right decision to book an appointment. Thank you

I have had a cyst for over 2 weeks medication I am taking is not working although they can operate they choose to keep giving me medication. I am not happy and I will be going to the press if it's not sorted by end of January

Phoned SMP today because next available appointment booked online would have been 8 days away which was too long to wait. Receptionist put me on the list for triage doctor to call. Spoke to Dr within a few minutes and given appointment for later in the day. Thank you for brilliant care from all the team.

I would like to say how great and thankful I am for the leg club nurses especially nurse Sarah who is lovely, patient, caring and helpful. Nurse Jamie and Natasha and Sarah used new techniques which after 11 1/2 years my legs are healing. They are unspoken heroes. I would just like to say the above nurses work way above and beyond. The nurses are always working past the end of their shifts. That's dedication.

I booked very specifically a double appointment. The receptionist confirmed double. I waited a month for this appointment (more than one thing to discuss). On arrival I had only been given 10 mins not double.

On a recent phone call to the surgery for an emergency appointment, I was totally appalled at the way that I was spoken to. The call centre operative was rude, abnoxious and I felt she could have spoken with a little more empathy. I wouldn’t have phoned if it hadn’t been necessary and to be made to feel that I was malingering was completely out of order. However, I do appreciate that your call centre can be put under pressure but nevertheless a little bit of courtesy wouldn’t have gone a miss. This is why I decided to put a none commital recommendation, which is a shame because the surgery in my mind is outstandingly excellent.

I’ve always had fabulous service from this practice. Dr Sharpe and Dr Henderson have been extremely professional and empathetic whenever I’ve felt the need to see when I’ve been unwell. Also the receptionists who have a very difficult job have been very kind and considerate. Again two ladies that stand out are Gloria and Janet. Thank you for your help.

I really don’t feel I’m being looked after. Phones not answered, results not given over phone when you do get through, lack of appointment slots, my gp is never available, online service password reset requires a visit to the practise. Awful!

I phoned up in chronic pain from an existing injury and requested an appointment or to speak to a gp for some stronger painkillers and was refused. I was told by the receptionist that I would have to email a request and wait 48 hours before collecting. They couldn’t even offer me a routine appointment despite being in chronic pain

I feel that only having one reception point for two practices is a farce! Each surgery should have it's own telephone number in which to call as this current system is not working at all.

I phoned on Monday June three times throughout the day. It was only answered on the third try. I needed a doctor appointment and a blood test appointment, neither of which I could be given....what! When I said I was in a lot of pain, the receptionist than listed my ailments. All Chronic but why did she have access to my notes? What happened to patients confidentiality. One of the illnesses she quoted, I didn’t even know I had. I am extremely angry about this. How do I complain.

Recently changed to this practice and had the most helpful staff on reception (receptionist Karen ) sorting out a missing letter from hospital, ringing me back, fantastic service well done on doing a great job, I know how stressful it can be. Thank you.

My only disappointment is the length of time taken to have a telephone call answered. Yes I am aware the receptionists are obviously very busy but I feel that a solution to this problem is way overdue. Barry McNamara
